      நமது  நாட்டின் தேசப் பிதா மஹாத்மா  காந்தியவர்களுக்கு  நாம்  அனைவரும் நன்றி கூறும்   மாதம்  இது . மனிதன்  எவ்வாறு  வாழ  வேண்டும்  என்பதற்கு  மகாத்மா  அவர்களின்  வாழ்வே  நல்ல உதாரணம்  ஆகும் .

                               காந்திஜி  படிப்பதற்காக வெளி  நாட்டிற்கு  புறப்பட்டபோது அன்னாரின் அன்னையார் அவரிடம் மது ,மாது, மாமிசம்  ஆகியவற்றை அறவே  தவிர்க்க  வேண்டும். என்று  சத்தியம்  வாங்கிக்கொண்டார் .அடிகளார் அன்னைக்கு   கொடுத்த  வாக்கை  தன்  வாழ்நாள்  முழுவதும் கடை பிடித்தார் .   இப்போது  மதுவை  மட்டும் எடுத்துக்  கொள்வோம் .ஒவ்வொரு  பண்டிகை  முடிந்ததும்  மறுநாள் செய்தித்தாளில்  வரும்  முக்கிய செய்தி அன்றைய  மதுக்கடை வருமா னம் 95கோடி  ரூபாய் .
                                மது உள்ளே  சென்றால்  என்ன   நடக்கும்? கொலை , கொள்ளை ,கற்பழிப்பு .மக்களே ,சமுதாய  சீர்கேட்டிற்கு வித்திடும் மதுவை  அடியோடு ஒழித்து விடுங்கள் .. வீட்டையும்,நாட்டையும் ஆரோக்கியமாக்கி வளமாக மாற்றுங்கள்.  இதுவே நாம் காந்திஜி க்கு செய்யும் உண்மையான மரியாதையாகும்.
                                        மது  என்ன  செய்யும் ????......
          முதலில்  பொருளாதார  சீர்கேட்டை  ஏற்படுத்தும் .அதன்  விளைவாக  குடும்பத்தில்  பசி ,பட்டினி ,சண்டைகண்ணீர்  குழந்தைகளின் கல்வி கெடுதல் ,மற்றும்  மனநலம்  பாதிக்கப்பட்டு  அல்லல் படுதல் ,என  தொடர்ந்து அக்கம் பக்கத்தாரின் கேலி  ,கிண்டல் ,அலட்சியப்பார்வை  அதனால்  ஏற்படும் குடும்பப்  பாதுகாப்பின்மை ,          என  அக்குடும்பம்   ஆடிப்  போவதை  நாம் மறந்து  போகலாமா ???

                                      இதற்குத்தானே  வள்ளுவர் பெருமான்  '' கள்ளுண்ணாமை '' பற்றி  பத்து  குறட்ப்பாக்களை  93ஆம்  அதிகாரத்தில் எழுதிஉள்ளார் .

                  மதுவைக்  குடித்தல்   மரணத்தை  அணைப்பதற்கு  சமம் . மனம் ,உடல்  இரண்டும்  ஒரு சேர  நலிந்து  போகும் . மூளை  வீக்கம் , நுரையீரல் வீக்கம் , புற்று  நோய் ,நீரிழிவு  நோய் . பார்வை மங்குதல்  , கண் வீக்கம் , கருவளையம்  உண்டதால் ,முகம் சுருங்கி  ,தோல் சுருங்கி  வறண்டு ,இளம்  வயதிலேயே  கிழத்தன்மை எய்தி ,உடலில் நீர்த்தன்மை குறைந்து ,சிறுநீரகம் செயலிழந்து ,இதயம் பழுதடைந்து ,ஆண்
மை  இழந்து நடை  பிணமாகி ,மயானத்தை  நோக்கி  வேகமாக ஓடும்  மது மனிதா ....மதுவை விட்டுவிடு .
                        இன்று  மது அருந்தும்  பழக்கம்  பெண்களிடமும்  பெருகி வருகின்றது .ஆண்களை  விட  பெண்களின் இரத்தத்தில்  மதுமிக  வேகமாக கலந்து  விடுகின்றது .பாதிப்புகளும் மிக  அதிகமாக  உள்ளது .பெண்மை  பாதிக்கப்படுவதோடு  மார்பகப்புற்றுநோய் ,கருப்பை சீர்கேடு ,இதயநோய் ,நுரையீரல்புற்று  ,மனநலம்  கெடுதல் ,நடத்தையில் திசை மாறிப்போதல்  போன்றன ஏற்பட்டு வாழ்க்கை நரகமாகிப்  போகின்றது .
                                   மக்களே ....வருங்கால  சந்ததிகளை மனதில்  கொண்டு மதுவை  மறந்து  விடுங்கள் .    
..                 மது  விற்பனையால்   அரசிற்கு  நல்ல  வருமானம்  கிடைக்கின்றது . அதை  பயன்படுத்தி  பல  நல்ல  திட்டங்களை  செயல்  படுத்தலாம்  என  நினைக்கின்றனர் .அத்துடன்  கள்ளச்  சாராய  சந்தையின்  ஆதிக்கத்தை  பெருமளவில்  ஒடுக்கி  விடலாம்  என்ற  எண்ணமும்  காணப்படுகின்றது . இது  முற்றிலும்  ஆபத்தானது . ஆயுதத்தால்  ஆயுதத்தை  ஒழித்து  விட   முடியுமா ! தீயை  தீயால்  அனைக்கலாகுமா!!..நோயை  நோயால்  குணப் படுத்த   இயலுமா!!..ஒருபோதும்  இயலாது .

                   மனிதனை   மிருகமாக்கும்   மது  தீயை  விட  கொடுமையானதாகும் . அதிலிருந்தது   வரும்  வருமானம்  இழிந்த  கீழான  நிதியாகும் . அன்  நிதியின்  அடிப்படையில் செயல்  படுத்தப் படும்   திட்டங்களால்  நாம்  வாழ்வதை  மடிவதே  மேல் . இதைத்தான்  மகாத்மாஜி  அவர்களும்  வலியுறுத்துகின்றார் .

2.BY USING HARSH WORDS.
3.BY USING WEAPONS
4.BY SPOILING ONES IMAGE BY SPREADING FALSE INFORMATIONS AND NEWS.

5.PROBING INTO OTHERS PRIVACY.

6.BY DISCRIMINATING HUMAN ….BASIS OF RELIGION,CASTE,COLOUR,APPEARANCE,POWER,FINANCIAL STATUS AND SO ON…..

7.BY GENDER DISCREMINATION….the top most threatening problem of today.

Please take the above mentioned one by one and try to get explanation from your teachers.

Ilike to say few words about thelast point.when you are young you are called children.when you go to study youarecalled students. When you become a part of the society  please be HUMAN….A REAL HUMAN WILL NOT DO ANY  HARM TO ANYBODY….PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY.PRACTICE AHIMSA IN ALL WALKS OF YOUR LIFE.

                          We belong to Gandhi desam. all the veins of INDIANS carry only ahimsa .Then how is it possible   to see cheating, bribery, violence, bloodshed, loot ,kidnap, murder, disastrous lies , betray , partiality,  cruel rape, unfaithfulness, enemity and so on.
                           India is a land of people.Multiply them into two,I Mean the two are their hands and Babuji always wanted  the hands of Indians to be with some CONSTRUCTIVE WORK.That is why he opposed total industrialisation and labour mechanisation which will throw most of them with out employment who live at grass root level of our nation. they starve with out proper employment but the remaining are able to harvest excess of money and enjoy all the luxuries of the world.Why this unexcusable partiality among INDIANS...is it not against AHIMSA?...WHEN ARE WE GOING TO ACHIEVE REAL DEMOCRACY?....

In the words of Gandhiji, “In short ahimsa is an incomparable weapon. Ahimsa is the heart-beat of our life. it is the spatiality of warriors and not for cowards.It is the great source of power and always bubbling with energy.ahimsa is the real charecteristics feature of our SOUL.That is why we consider Ahimsa is the best among all powers.AHIMSA ...the burning SUN will destroy all criminal thoughts,anger and enemity.'' 

When Gandhiji was addressing the students of Gurjara vidhya  Beeda, a person asked Gandhiji  ‘ Babuji, when I ask people to follow Ahimsa, they immedietly ask is it against Ahimsa to kill Tiger, Snake ,Wolf,Lies and eat  Brinjal and Potato and is it not against Ahimsa to posses a powerfull  Army and kill enemies…, nobody  shows  interest in introducing the PHILOSOPHY of AHIMSA in our Educational system. Kindly give us some guide lines in this aspect.’ Then Gandhiji  gave a detailed notes on this issue which is very much applicable even today. JI  started. ‘the first part of the question comes from a very narrow mindedpeople. They are actually wasting time and knowledge. This sort of silly questions make us to forget our prime duty.        

Then  Gandhiji  started  to  talk  to  the  students  of  that  institution  ….My  dear  youngsters  , students  who  study  in  the  institution  where  the  sacred  light  of  Ahimsa  is  fully  spread  every where  will  feel  completely  independent  and  behave  like  brothers  and  sisters .There  will  be  absolute  self control  in  the  midst  of  students .

             They  will  treat  their  Teachers  as  their  Father  and  Mother . They  will  respect  each  other  and  there  will  be  mutual  belief  among  the  students  . The students  trained  in  the  institution  like  the  above , will  develop  broad mind  and  indulge  themselves  in  PUBLIC  SERVICES  .It  will  not  be  very  difficult  for  them  to  weed  Social  Evils  as  they do  it  with  pure  love  and  affection .

          They  will  sternly  reject  Child marriage ,and  Dowry .They  will  never  care  for  CASTE  and  RELEGION .The  life partners  will  respect  each  other ,will  create  friendship  between  them  and  will  run  the  family  peacefully .”

          I  want  to  put  an  earnest  request  in  front  of  you .My  dear  young  boys  and  girls…the future  of  INDIA  is in  your  POWERFULL  hands .So  each  and  every  move  of  you  people  should  be  from  the  view point  of  AHIMSA….!!THANK  YOU  MAHATMAJI …!!
         BABUJI  always  wanted  the  students  should be  shaped   in  such  a  way  that  when  they  come  out  of  the  institution  they  should  be  an  ideal  citizen  of  India ,having  love and  affection  for India  and  
Indians . This  will  not  come  in  a  day  or  two .Gandhiji  insists " the  students  should  be  left  free during their  holidays without any study assignments .They  should  be  asked to go to a nearby village and do some  
service in the village. For the first one or two visits the villagers  may not  accept  them but after some repeated visits the villagers will become close and friendly with them .The students can teach them how to keep their houses and environment clean.The students  should start the cleaning  of  the village first  and very quickly the villagers will also join happily with them .The students can help the elders to read  and write and also the children.They can also try to bring awareness about how much  important it is to keep their  body , clothes ,food and drinking water clean .If all the students are involved  in village services during their holidays 
how clean India will be!!One more thing I wish to insist here is during their stay in villages the students should do some small work in the villages to meet their needs ."

                  I worked in government college for women  ,KUMBAKONAM ,for about 35 years.The  students  are involved in Social service activities under various Heads like ACC,NSS,NCC,RED CROSS,ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES,all together come under Part  4 for which the students will be awarded 100 marks.There  will be a  co ordinator  and the work will be executed  by the students under the supervision ofLecturers who is in charge of that  particular activity .

               A nearby  village will be adopted by the NSS students . The students will visit the village periodically and do service like environmental  cleaning ,Temple cleaning,little teaching,conducting  Medical Camp, Free Leagal Aid  Camp .Refreshment  to the students will be provided from NSS fund in the college.RedCross volunteers will assist in Medical Camps conducted by Lions and Rotary Clubs.The students will engage themselves in cleaning the college campuss  periodically.

            It will be a pleasure to see the youngsters doing the service whole heartedly .If all the above mentioned activities are carried away by all the students communities  all over the country hope we will resume our Golden India soon .

            A question may arise in our mind “ Is it possible? ‘’ .Yes it is  possible!!.NO one can estimate the amount of energy of our youngsters.It has been proved in HISTORY how much challenging they are!!To know more about let us turn the pages of Great Britain during World War 1.Prior and during this period Great Britain gave prime importence to industries as lot of raw  materials  for various industries  were available at lowest cost from their colonized countries.As a result an acute food problem arised in the country.NO one can Eat Money!!.We can Eat only Food Grains for which We will have to SAVE  Agricultural  Lands and Agriculture!!.

             In 1931 Geography Professor  ‘’L.Dudley Stamp ‘’saved Great Britain from starvation and from HITLER also by doing a thorough Land Survey  in Great Britain.It is the first attempt of systematic plotting of land use which provided a frame work for future planning .He was constantly touring covering  nearly 2000 miles in a month.His wife  accompanied him during the survey.Between 1932 and 1934  he finished all the survey work and published a Land Use map of Great Britain with 7 classes namely 1.Forest and Woodland,2.Meadows and pasture,3.Arable land{Suitable for Agriculture},4.Heath and common land,5.Gardens and nurseries,6.Water,7.Un productive{urban and industrial }.The country used his Agricultural map  and avoided defeat from starvation.

          Among all the problems,   Money was a big problem to him to carry out  the Survey.Due to WAR,

the government was not able to  give financial help to the survey.However Stamp was able to get small

grants from Charitable and Educational Foundations with occasional help from LSE and Ordenance Survey .So Dudley Stamp took the help of  some 10000 school children and some young volunteers for his land survey work and completed the work successfully.Whenever Stamp refers to  the service rendered by the school STUDENTS He says ‘’IT WOULD BE USEFUL EDUCATIONALLY FOR THEM AND IT IS A TRAINING IN CITIZENSHIP ‘’.I have given an example to establish how dedicated and hard working the STUDENTS are,  provided they are led in the correct path. Gandhiji believes  the STUDENTS.

             Ganthiji insists Brammachariyam among the students.Gandhiji says Brammachariyam means ,an absolute control over one’s own five sensory organs. If they posses that control, they will be able to achieve their goal easily.The should not get distracted  by the external affairs. We call this period of learning as” brammacharia ashramam ‘’.The students get more and more  from their parents ,teachers ,and from the whole world in short while they are students and of course they will be returning their knowledge in multiples to the society later. A true brammachari is a sanyasi gandhiji says .

        Gandhiji feels married people can also  follow brammachariam .Married persons who have control over their five sensory organs and live accordingly do good to themselves and also to others.A question was put in front of Babuji ,asking if an artist,poet ,scientist ,leader go without

their own children  how can we transfer the art and science to the future world .Gandhiji gives a nice answer to this issue.’’ The great people may marry and produce few children  but they may or may not posses their parents inteligence!! But there may be a number of followers and deciples  for every great person. They only take the messages to the people on behalf of their leaders. In married life the number alone increases and not the quality .A quality society can be developed  only by  the dedicated followers of good leaders.’’
